Should you use click bait for your ads? Absolutely, definitely NOT!!!!

A few people have asked, should you use click bait for your ads…

And the answer is… wait for it.. You should NOT use clickbait if you’re running paid ads.. This would be a terrible idea if you’re running paid ads. 

1) You want prospects who have genuine interest in what you’re selling

The reason being, you want prospects clicking who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. For example. If you run a campaign that’s vague, with a shocking title or something that’s “click bait”, you’re going to get 100 prospects clicking on that ad. And from those 100 prospects, maybe, 10 are actually interested in your offer. From those 10, maybe 5 take an action. That’s a 5% conversion rate… so really… should you use click bait for your ads? Probably not… 

But wait, there’s more!!

2) You’ll retarget customers who aren’t actually interested in what you’re selling

Even worse, say you’ve set up a retargeting campaign, you’re now going to be retargeting those 100 people with more ads even though they’re not qualified customers. And your ads will be shown to more people like those 100 who have similar demographics or interests. So you’re not actually creating a targeted audience, it’s all working against you. You’ll continue to grow and build an audience of unqualified prospects all because you decided to use clickbait… you really should have asked yourself… “Should you use click bait for your ads”…

3) You should make your ad content and copy qualifying

So.. What you should be doing? Make your ad title, and copy, clear. You can use engaging titles, imagery, or videos to get initial attention, but within that content or copy, be very clear on what it is you’re offering. You really want to qualify your prospects before they click.

4) Gain genuine interest

So now.. for example, say those 100 people that click your ad are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. And from those 100 people, maybe 50 take an action. You’ve now gone from a 5% conversion rate, to a 50% conversion rate.

5) Using qualifying ads you’ll be able to build a targeted audience of prospect

Even better, your ads will now be shown to more people like those 100 who are genuinely interested in your offer, so you’ll start to build a targeted audience of prospects who are more likely to buy what you’re selling.
